06 Aug 2010:  Lawsuit filed against SPS, MGJ, and School Board

  • Palao-Vargas & Sias vs. SPS et al. asks the court to require the Board to reconsider their decision to grant a sole source contract to NWEA for the MAP product license for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Aug 2010:  MGJ is pressuring the teacher's union to accept egregious provisions. 

  • A4E and LEV is helping to try to generate public pressure on the Union to accept the District's proposals.

July 22, 2010:  Citizens filed with King Count Superior court an appeal of the Board's July 7 2010 decision to add a third year theSuperintendent's employment contract. 

July 22, 2010:  Voters file a petition to recall the five directors who voted on July 7 to add a third year to the Superintendent's contract, despite the numerous findings by the state auditor against the superintendent. 

July 7, 2010:  By a 5-2 vote (Patu, Smith-Blum dissenting) the School Board votes to extend MGJ's employment contract by one year (thus adding a third year to the existing contract). 

July 7 2010: The on-line community no-confidence petition was delivered to School Board, with 387 signatures. Teaching staffs at 12 schools have now voted "No Confidence" in Dr Goodloe-Johnson.

July 6, 2010: State Auditor releases the 2009 audit report on Seattle Public Schools. This report covers the period Sept 1, 2009 to Aug. 31, 2009.  The Board is cited as failing to provide proper oversight and failing to see that the Superintendent follows state law and school board policy.
